I really enjoyed making this piece. I liked the idea of starting with a background of a powerful colour like red. Then I begin to build the image and patterns up.
The main image of a woman peering forward in a red suit and black handbag caught my eye. I decided to create a halo of gold around her head and laid this on top of the red paper.
I wanted to create a web effect of pattern. I used strips of red card cut individually by hand and laid and used adhesive to attach them. This I used to create a pattern of a weblike appearance.
Again this laying of pattern marks a move away from my usual way of working.
